7 Easy Tips to Stop Your Eyelash Pulling
Possibly you've just begun to pull out your eyelashes. Or it's possible that you have been doing this for a while now. Maybe your eyelash pulling isn't something you do on purpose - it's just one of "those things" that you do likely without paying any attention to it.
Whatever the reason you're pulling out your eyelashes, the good news is that it's probably not your fault and that you can quit (or at least reduce) your annoying habit using these simple tips.
1. Pay attention to your eyelash pulling.
There is a very high probability that your eyelash onslaught is triggered by some "thing" or some "one". When you realise that you are on the cusp of plucking your eyelashes, pause. Just for a second so you get a chance to discover the cause of your reaction. Then consciously change what you do when your own personal eyelash trigger is pulled.
2. Do something different.
Once you've noticed when your hands instinctively head towards your eyelashes, you can start to change what you do. If you manage to do this every time, well done, you're superhuman! Don't worry if you don't catch yourself every time. Spend a bit of time to catch yourself more often. Think of something else to do - if you don't, your hands will get bored again. If you're feeling keen, slip a rubber band around your wrist and flick it every time you get the urge to pull out your eyelashes. Or scratch your head. Whatever works for you.
3. Give yourself eyelashes that are difficult to grip!
Of course you won't be coating your eyelashes with Teflon. But a coating of Vaseline will work nicely. Then when you go to grab a handful of eyelashes, your grip won't be as firm and at the absolute minimum you'll manage to pull out less eyelashes.
4. Occupy your hands in other ways.
There's a high chance that your hands are simply showing their boredom. And need something to do! Find something to keep your hands occupied more often.
5. Reduce your boredom.
Think back to when you pull on your eyelashes. Is it when you're fully occupied? Or, as it quite likely, you do this when you've nothing else to do? Stave off your boredom and keep yourself occupied more of the time. You'll likely reduce your eyelash pulling as a result.
6. Chill!
Relaxation is something we've "unlearned" as we've got more sophisticated. Take time out to re-learn how to relax. Check out meditating. Or yoga. Or play your favorite CD and allow yourself to get totally engrossed in the music (teenagers pull this trick all the time, even if their choice in music isn't necessarily relaxing to you or me).
7. Hypnotize yourself.
You can get an inexpensive hypnosis download that will get to the root cause of your eyelash pulling and help you quit your habit simply and easily. You can get an eyelash pulling hypnosis track here.
